Between mental hospital and nowhere: an evening full of absurdity and emotion.
"I don't know about you, but I think a snack like this is AWESOMELY romantic." With this sentence, Luca and her companions Carla and Linn whisk us away into a world that lies somewhere between the "engine room of the psyche" and uncertain freedom.
Waiting for the bus - and for life After being released from a mental hospital, the three women find themselves stranded at a snack bar in the middle of nowhere. As they reflect on the past few weeks, they meet a shop assistant who is anything but ordinary. In between the polite service and vociferous interference, she suddenly claims that the deer across the road is a Nazi.
As time passes and nobody knows when the next bus will arrive - the timetable has been more of a vague suggestion since the 1990s - mysterious letters flutter into the snack bar. A scenario full of humour and absurdity unfolds:
- Humour & absurdity: when the world goes off the rails, often the only thing that helps is laughter.
- Honest emotion: Hidden behind the jogging bottoms are wounds, dreams and the search for hope.
- Power of language: Svealena Kutschke (Hebbel Prize winner 2022) proves her flair for unsparing and impressive texts.
