The "Maier-Hauff//DeRungs" project unites the creative energies of two outstanding musicians in a mesh of jazz, electronica and sound design. Julian Maier-Hauff is regarded as one of the most intuitive musicians of our time. As an artistic visionary (Elbphilharmonie, Münchner Rundfunkorchester, among others) and sought-after studio guest with acts such as Alice Merton or Mine, he switches effortlessly between synthesizers, drum computers, trumpet and saxophone. Julian Maier-Hauff is one of the few artists in the electronic music scene who works completely freely. All sets are improvised and every audible sound is created in the moment. Opposite him is Lukas DeRungs: the accomplished pianist and composer was recently honoured with the Baden-Württemberg State Jazz Prize and nominated for the German Jazz Prize.
"Maier-Hauff//DeRungs" is far more than an experiment; it is a journey through musical galaxies. The combination of analogue instruments and innovative digital elements creates a dynamic that leaves room for spontaneous improvisation. From pulsating grooves to lyrical soundscapes, two artistic visions merge into an extraordinary interplay at the highest level. It is a tribute to the transformative power of music that appeals to the senses and emotions in equal measure and takes the audience on a captivating journey.
"a fascinating combination of minimal electronics and jazz" (INKA MAgazin).
